Pancreas Transplant Statistics for Tampa General Hospital

Patients in hospital talk to doctor.Tampa General Hospital’s pancreas transplant statistics are comparable to or better than the statistics for other transplant centers throughout the nation. At Tampa General, we not only have higher transplant rates and shorter average times to transplant than many other pancreas transplant programs, we also have excellent success rates for patient survival. The statistics for our transplant center – and the statistics of other transplant centers throughout the country – are tracked by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR).

According to the most recent SRTR report, which was published in July 2015, Tampa General Hospital’s Pancreas Transplant Program has:

  • Performed nearly 300 pancreas transplants for patients of various ages and blood types, and with a number of unique diagnoses, as of June 2014

  • Established a median time to transplant of 8.7 months

  • Accepted a higher percentage of patients who have already had a failed pancreas transplant – a situation that classifies them as high-risk individuals – than other transplant centers in the country during the period analyzed with the latest SRTR data, due in part to our experience treating complicated cases

  • Performed 12 total combined kidney/pancreas transplants in conjunction with our kidney transplant program between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014.
